Lynn McNamer and F.D. ‘Spike’ McQuiston (1939-1993)
Where It All Started
After serving in the Navy and working for Grinnell-ADT in Seattle, Butte-born Spike McQuiston came home to Montana and founded Interstate Alarm in Missoula in 1972. He crisscrossed the state with a fifth wheel behind his truck, selling and installing alarms at a time when few people had them.
When Spike passed away in 1993, his wife, Lynn, stepped in as president and CEO. Today, her sons, Shawn and Josh, and grandson Tayler carry the business forward, and some of our very first customers from 1972 are still with us.

Sure a burglar alarm system is a great protection tool but we care a lot about people’s lives. Monitored combination smoke/carbon monoxide detectors can provide critical notification if someone is overcome by smoke inhalation, breathing poison gas, or gone from home when a fire starts.
