Disconnect Those Land Lines!
One of the most common questions we receive is in regards to phone lines for a fire alarm system. The 2013 year code updates in NFPA72 now gives us the ability to monitor fire alarm systems using a cellular network, bringing cutting edge technology in the form of sole path fire cellular communication that is fast and reliable. Installing cellular on a new system or switching an existing one to cellular can save you money by reducing the monthly costs associated with paying for two separate landlines, which can only be used by the fire alarm. With traditional land line service becoming obsolete and increasing in cost every year, it just makes sense. Today’s business phone systems typically consist of VOIP, a network based technology, which is cost effective but is not compatible nor code compliant with fire alarm systems. Call us to make the switch today!
Fire Installation
Because of life-safety implications, fire detection systems take on more importance than your typical security installation. The “National Fire Alarm Code‚” provides installation requirements, maintenance, testing, and use of fire detection initiating devices, fire alarm system control units, notification appliances, and how these components work together to form a protection system.

Smoke Detector Sensitivity Testing
Commercial smoke detectors are required to be placed to ensure smoke entry into the sensing chamber and an alarm response. Detectors require a calibrated sensitivity check after the first year in service and in alternating years thereafter at which time the sensitivity testing is permitted to be extended to a maximum of 5 years. We use specialized equipment to perform calibration testing per NFPA requirements which is part of keeping your system in local, state and federal compliance.
System Inspections
Everything has a life cycle but when it comes to life safety you don’t want to find out when it’s too late that something isn’t working correctly. Your fire alarm devices self-monitor for some problems but functional testing is the only sure way to know your system will perform at its best when needed. Most jurisdictions require a fire system in a commercial building to be tested annually by a certified alarm technician, and for devices replaced on a set schedule basis. Complying with these provisions can be challenging. We have the experience, knowledge, and proper equipment to keep you up to code and help keep your system functioning properly.
